AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider (Classroom)
Description:

This instructor-led course is the gold standard for healthcare professionals. It teaches single-rescuer and team-based basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings.

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification course prepares course participants to quickly recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies such as heart attack, cardiac arrest and choking in adults, children, and infants by performing high-quality chest compressions, deliberate ventilation, and timely use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

This interactive, hands-on course is for those who require a BLS certification and work in a healthcare setting or are preparing to enter the healthcare field. This class addresses both pre-hospital emergencies and in-hospital Code Blue situations.

The BLS Provider course focuses on the following concepts:

  • The AHA Chain of Survival

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • Important early use of an AED

  • Giving quality breaths using both a mask and a bag, valve, mask device

  • Effective Team Dynamics during multi-rescuer CPR attempt

  • Relief of choking for adults, children, and infants
     

The American Heart Association BLS Provider course is video-led with Practice While Watching components as well as ample time to practice prior to taking the skills test. Once hands-on skills are mastered a 25 question multiple-choice test will be taken online. A score of 84% or better is required to receive an AHA course completion card.  Please bring a mobile device or laptop during the course. 

Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic BLS Instructors ensure each course participant has the skills required to assist in an emergency, should the unfortunate need arise.

There are no prerequisites but a current (2025) AHA BLS Provider manual (print or e-book) is required to take this course.  The (2025) AHA BLS Provider manual (print or e-book) IS NOT included with this course.

Format: Traditional classroom or blended learning
Upon successful completion an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard will be issued.

Audience: Physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills.

This course reflects science from the 2025 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.
