  • Participants must have a current AHA BLS-Healthcare Provider card
  • Demonstrate good teaching skills 
  • Possess qualities for group training. 
  • The course is open to medical and non-medical persons who have time to commit to the CPR program.

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
This course is a hybrid session and is completed in a series of classes. The first session is done online and must be purchased at https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-essentials-online. This course fee is $38.00 and must be paid to the AHA via their online store. 

After completing the online essentials course, you will be scheduled to attend the in person skill session with an AHA Instructor.
