The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
The HeartCode format is a blended learning delivery method, which consists of students completing an online course prior to an in-person skills test. You must complete the HeartCode BLS online prior to your testing session (purchased separately for $37). Bring a hard-copy of the Completion Certificate with you to your skills session. The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. This class covers the Basic Life Support Initial and Renewal certification.

Is there a required textbook for this course?
Yes, the AHA requires that all students have a student manual for the course, however, the BLS Provider Manual eBook is included in the purchase of the HeartCode BLS Online Course.
