Editorial standards and corrections policy

CPR Class Finder is an independent marketplace for CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS and First Aid classes. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any certifying organization. These standards describe how our guides are written and maintained.

What our guides are for

Our guides answer the questions students ask before booking: which certification a profession usually requires, which issuing organizations are commonly accepted, whether an online-only course is enough, and how often certification must be renewed.

They are general information, not advice about your specific job. Requirements vary by employer, by role and by state, and they change. Always confirm acceptance with your employer or school before you book a class.

How we research

• We work from published course materials and the public documentation of the issuing organizations — principally the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross and the Health & Safety Institute.
• Where a requirement varies by employer or state, we say so rather than presenting one answer as universal.
• We do not present a training provider's marketing copy as fact.
• Every guide lists the sources it relies on.

Review

Guides that carry a Reviewed by line have been read by a certified instructor holding a current credential in the discipline concerned. The reviewer's name and credential are shown on the guide.

A guide without that line has not been reviewed yet. We say so on the page rather than leaving the absence to be noticed. We do not describe a guide as reviewed unless a named person has actually reviewed it.

Dates

Each guide shows the date it was published and, where it has been revised, the date of the most recent substantive revision. We do not refresh those dates for routine edits, and we do not generate them at page-load time — a date that always reads "today" tells a reader nothing.

Accreditation language

The AHA and the Red Cross authorize training centers to teach their courses; they do not accredit them. We therefore describe providers as AHA-authorized or as Red Cross training providers, and we describe certification as issued upon successful completion. We do not describe any class, provider or certification as "accredited".

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

• Email [email protected] with the guide's title and what is incorrect.
• Factual errors are corrected as soon as we can verify the correct information.
• Where a correction changes the substance of a guide, we note what changed and update the revision date shown on the page.
• Where a correction is minor — a typo, a broken link — we fix it without a note.

Independence

Training providers pay to list classes on CPR Class Finder. Payment never affects what our guides say, which certifications we recommend considering, or the order of search results on class pages. Guides are written independently of the marketplace listings.
