The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses. This course includes alignment with AHA, training center, Instructor manual, Instructor teach-back at our location, unlimited shadowing and support and 2 year Instructor Certification Card.

This is an Online and In person course. The participant will need to complete the American RedCross online course and come to class for the hands on training. 

This course is taken by Personal Trainers, Yoga Instructors, Teachers, Coaches, Baby sitters, Essential workers, and anyone who wants to learn CPR. For participants in the medical field please sign up for the BLS course.

The HeartCode format is a blended learning delivery method, which consists of students completing an online course prior to an in-person skills test. • Model effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance team
• Recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance

2025 Guidelines – Blended Learning with Online Course Included

The American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course, updated to reflect the 2025 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, combines the flexibility of online learning with instructor-led, hands-on skills practice.

Participants first complete the official AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online course at their own pace, followed by an in-person, hands-on skills session with a CPR By Jeremy instructor at their home, workplace, school, or facility. AHA describes the blended format as a self-paced online portion followed by a verified hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor. 

During the course, participants learn and practice how to:

• Perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Respond to choking emergencies
• Provide first aid for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies
• Recognize when emergency medical assistance is needed
• Respond confidently until additional help arrives

This course is ideal for teachers, childcare providers, fitness professionals, workplace employees, safety teams, and community members who need AHA certification or prefer the flexibility of completing the knowledge portion online before their hands-on session.
